“FASHION CHANGES, STYLE ENDURES.”
I’ve always had a unique sence of style and any one that knows me knows I’ve been a lover of fashion and design from way back. However, I like to keep it fresh, create my own style and be on the cusp of trends, a leader.
This is why I am constantly frustrated by the unoriginallity that is rife in the world of design and retail with one of the main causes of this growing concern being Social Media. Instagram plays a huge part and has changed for the worse but not because we only see posts according to an ever changing algorithm – Because we have lost all originallity and what’s even worse, we are applauding mediocracy.
What happens when you see something great? You see it again 50 thousand more times over the next couple of days!
People and businesses are re posting images in the hope of gaining as much approval from the Insta-world as the original poster. You end up with a feed of the same image or room, over and over again. The once gorgeous room becomes a bit common because it’s flooded your feed and lost all it’s difference and gleam. After that, you see the copycat posts and products…
Same products, same designs, same colours, same, same, same. From what businesses post to what they design and or sell. It’s a vicious and BORING cycle of undistinugishable ‘meh’.
So, whilest I do love gorgeous products and spaces, I have and will endeavor to be different – Stock new and exciting brands, show both modern and alternative designs and always be classic, cool & a little irreverent. Follow us in Instagram at CHILDISH THINGS.
If you can relate, I have listed a small collection of some of my favourite Instagram accounts for you to check out.
